Nathan Lord was the sixth president of Dartmouth College; he was in office from 1828 to 1863. He was born in Berwick, Maine in 1792, and was graduated from Bowdoin College in 1809. In 1815 he was graduated from Andover Theological Seminary. He received his DD from Bowdoin in 1828 and his LL. D. from Bowdoin in 1864. He was a trustee of Dartmouth College from 1821 to 1863. Parker, jurist, was professor of law at Harvard Law School (1848-1868). In 1861, he published his Personal Liberty Laws (Statutes of Massachusetts) and Slavery in the Territories which was probably based on this and other articles for the Boston Journal.
